2025HB 85

School Board Member Background Checks

2025 - Delaware Senate

Conservatives Support

Description

This bill clarifies that any person appointed to a school board vacancy must complete a background check. CPAC supports the measure because it expands accountability by applying the same vetting standards to appointed members that already exist for elected members, ensuring all board members meet uniform eligibility requirements. The Senate passed it on June 24, 2025, by a vote of 21-0; it was signed into law on September 2, 2025.
