Clarifying Environmental Definitions and Mining Bonding

Description

This bill narrows the statutory definition of state-regulated waters, clarifies that certain environmental definitions apply only to specific sections, defines long-term treatment for mining, and sets how additional bond amounts are calculated when long-term treatment is required, with an emergency clause. CPAC supports reining in overbroad environmental regulation while providing clear rules for energy producers and supported this bill. The Senate passed this bill on 2025-02-14 by a vote of 30-5. The House passed this bill on 2025-03-12 by a vote of 69-26. The bill later became law.
