This bill creates a new section on academic tenure policy for higher education institutions, giving the state more say over tenure rules and potentially curbing guaranteed lifetime positions. It opens the door to more accountability for professors who misuse tenure as a shield for ideological indoctrination instead of teaching and research. CPAC supports higher-ed accountability and limits on entrenched tenure and supported this bill. The Senate passed this bill on 2025-03-26 by a vote of 28-19. The bill later became law.
