Diluting Party Primaries with Open Primary Crossover Voting

2025 - Nevada Senate

Conservatives Oppose

Description

This bill allows nonpartisan voters to participate in a major party's primary for partisan offices, weakening parties' ability to choose their own nominees and opening the door to strategic crossover voting. CPAC supports strong party primaries and clear, secure election processes and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on 2025-06-02 by a vote of 12-9. The Governor vetoed this bill.
