Imposing California-Style Public Sector Union Boss Rule on Virginia

Description

This bill repeals Virginia's longstanding prohibition on collective bargaining by public employees, creates a powerful Public Employee Relations Board, and forces state and local governments into union negotiations over wages, hours, and working conditions while weakening secret-ballot protections. It would supercharge government-union power, drive up taxpayer costs, and erode accountability to voters instead of union bosses. CPAC opposes forced public sector unionization that inflates government and undermines taxpayer interests and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on 2025-02-22 by a vote of 21-19. The Governor vetoed this bill.
