Description

This bill authorizes community and technical colleges to provide tuition waivers for tribal elders. It expands a narrow, identity-based benefit rather than pursuing broad-based tuition relief or cost reduction. CPAC prefers universally lower tuition and opposes ever-expanding identity-targeted waivers and opposed this bill. The Washington Senate passed SB 5110 on February 28, 2025, in a 48-0 vote, and Governor Bob Ferguson signed the measure into law.
