Locking In Higher Union Costs Across the UW System
2025 - Wisconsin Senate
Conservatives Oppose
Description
This bill ratifies a 2025-26 collective bargaining agreement between the UW System Board of Regents and the building trades crafts union, authorizing new spending levels for those employees. It deepens the financial burden of union contracts at a time when universities should be cutting waste, not expanding it. CPAC opposes expanding costly union agreements in bloated public university systems and opposed this bill. The Senate passed this bill on 2026-01-21 by a vote of 32-1. The bill later became law.
