Ending Gun-Free Zones and Restoring Firearm Preemption

Description

This bill repeals many gun-free zones, allows broader carrying of concealed weapons, criminalizes barring lawful carriers from entry in some contexts, and clarifies that only the legislature may regulate firearms, weapons, and ammunition, with limited exceptions. It strengthens statewide preemption and expands self-defense rights for law-abiding citizens. CPAC supports robust Second Amendment protections and state preemption of local gun control and supported this bill. The House passed this bill on 2025-01-23 by a vote of 50-10, and the bill later became law.
